Madison Organizing in Strength, Equity, and Solidarity
for Criminal Legal System Reform

Post Release Work Group

Our purpose is to focus on issues impacting individuals after their release from prison or jail, to prevent reincarceration and reduce barriers to community re-entry.

Please join us via Zoom at 7:30 pm on the 4th Thursday of each month

To confirm current month meeting time and zoom link instructions, see the MOSES Calendar

Our actions

  • Oppose supervision practices that result in unreasonable conditions of supervision, responses that are disproportionate to a violation, or excessive time on supervision
  • Advocate for legislation that eliminates crimeless/convictionless revocation
  • Promote policies that reduce barriers to employment and housing and enhance reintegration into the community
  • Review legislative documents, reports, and articles on topics of interest
  • Contact the Governor, legislators, and the Department of Corrections about these issues

More about us

Our Work Group is chaired by Mark Rice and Carol Rubin

One of our actions is “Advocate for legislation that eliminates crimeless/convictionless revocation.”  What is a crimeless or convictionless revocation?

Crimeless revocation–sometimes also called convictionless revocation–is the practice of re-incarcerating people who are on probation, parole or extended supervision for violating often minor rules of supervision. Unfortunately, Wisconsin’s revocation policies lead to the unnecessary incarceration of thousands of men and women each year. These policies, which disproportionately harm people of color and people with disabilities, tear families apart, disrupt communities, and drain resources that could instead be used to build safer and stronger communities.
